Since 2020, Pigeon Groundskeeping has been tending, creating & refining gardens for trusted clients. It is a pleasure to tailor our services to you and your garden's needs to create a space that nurtures and grows with you. We invite you to view some of our projects completed over the years.
Bocce Court Planting
This design was created & installed for a restaurant with the intention to create a year-round mixed planting screen that is reflective of the seaside location whilst keeping with shady conditions.
New cedar fence panels were installed as our clients requested a privacy screen next to their Bocce court. Ninebark, Feather Reed Grass & a variegated Carex we're planted to form a spine of colour contrast. By repeating them it created soft, airy shapes complimenting the other areas of this garden.
Vista Planting
Our clients wish was to install a low-maintenance planting that remained mostly evergreen whilst being cohesive with the existing garden vignettes, prioritizing striking shape, colour and texture.
The goal was to echo & repeat the vibrant red from Berberis 'Rose Glow', golden tones from Japanese Maples like 'Sango-Kaku', with drops of silver-blue tones from Deodar Cedar 'Feelin Blue'. By stringing in these colours, it created a garden with a sense of calming familiarity and enjoyment.
Seaside Foundation Planting
This garden was inspired by the pale, flow-y and softness of seaside plantings. Our client's request was to create a symmetrical garden design adorning the front door of their successful restaurant. The colour palette is soft blue's & purple's with splashes of yellow to compliment the exterior colour.
Tall Verbena and Feather Reed Grass were used to pull the ocean grasses to the windows for guests to enjoy as they eat. Lavender, Rosemary, & Thyme 'Silver Posie' engulf the entrance with fragrance & culinary possibilities. Strong evergreen's like Ilex 'Crenata' anchor the ends of the beds.
Production Garden Install & Planting
Our clients requested that their overgrown and neglected vegetable garden area to be redesigned and made more user friendly by elevating the growing space for ease of harvest & tending. Raised galvanized beds were installed for vegetable & fruit production.
All beds were filled with high quality local manure & organic materials. Gravel pathways makes traveling through the space easier and tidy. Ornamental beds were installed surrounding the garden to compliment the spa area. Overall, the organized layout made for a simple, yet aesthetically pleasing way for our clients to grow food.
Heritage Seaside Planting
This planting was completed for clients that requested an ornamental grass garden to compliment the seaside location; inspired by the soft colours of their heritage home, the ocean and pale cream colours of grasses.
Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning light', Panicum virgatum 'Heavy metal' & Tufted hair grass will fill in to form the spine. Deciduous shrubs such as Ribes sanguineum and June Plum provide early winter interest & structure. Pollinators are treated with Catmint, Yarrow & Phlomis. By removing an otherwise invasive hedgerow of introduced specimens, it cleared way for a mixed ornamental and native hedgerow with year-round interest.
Creekside Restoration Planting
This installation was completed with the intention to remove invasive species that took over a protected creek whilst creating a buffer and privacy from the busy road. Evergreen anchors like, Magnolia grandiflora, Evergreen Huckleberry, Rhododendron 'Bob's blue' & Weeping Canadian Hemlock provide year-round structure to the space.
For colour, Brunnera, Bleeding Heart, Azara & Forsythia were selected as low maintenance, deer-resistant foliar and floral interest. Once grown in, the garden will provide pollination, habitat and ornamental interest.
